Who is the head of our Church?
Polity is the word to describe how a church is governed. There is Congregational polity where all of the decisions of the church are made at congregational meetings where all of the members vote. There is Episcopal polity where a Bishop oversees a number of congregations and makes major decisions for the congregation. There is Presbyterian polity where the congregation elects representatives from the congregation to oversee the decisions of the local church.
Regardless of the polity of a local Christian church it is vital to remember the words of Paul in Ephesians 1:22 “God appointed Jesus Christ to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.”
Jesus is the head of the Church!
