Our History

At the Meadow we believe God is good… all of the time… and especially today! Our story is about the goodness of God.

After five years as a Captain in the USAF, followed by three-years at Princeton Theological Seminary, our Pastor Ken Smith and his wife Carol decided to begin a Bible study in their home. In a short time the growing study decided to begin a Sunday morning worship service. In 1978 the first service was held at the American Boy Choir School in Princeton. Several years later they were the first church to us the Princeton Borough Hall for worship, followed by being the first church allowed to worship in the Princeton Public School at the John Witherspoon Middle School.

In 1986 we purchased a 14-acre parcel on Meadow Road, keeping 7.14 acres for the eventual construction of a facility seating 750.

Construction of a 10,000 sq. ft. building was completed in May 1989 and dedicated by Dr. D. James Kennedy of Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church. Expanded offices and classroom were completed in 1995. In 2005 after raising $1,000,000 we began construction of our new 750-seat sanctuary completed in 2010.

We have been instrumental in starting 145 church plants in the northeast as well as construction of a new church and dispensary among the Massai tribe in Kenya, Africa. In addition we conduct a Christian preschool. Pastor Smith serves as the Moderator of the Religious Leaders of West Windsor. We are committed to being an open and transparent place where God’s grace will intersect our very real lives. God is on a mission to make all things new. Wherever you come from we are glad you are here because God is good… all of the time… and especially today!

How our Church Operates

We are a Presbyterian church and members of the Presbyterian Church of America (a reformed, evangelical denomination). The word Presbyterian means representative. Our officers are called elders and elected by the congregation. Along with other ministry leaders these men and women meet monthly to plan and coordinate the ministries of the church.
